Kefid · 15,573 Posts. #2 · Jul 1, 2011. Only show this user. In that size truck you want the 8.3 engine. A 5.9 is way under powered. I used to drive a F600 with a 5.9 and 6 spd. With a dual tandem trailer and a cat tellahandler on it. It got around 8 MPG. It also took over a mile to get to a 55 MPH speed limit on flat ground.
